In The Media

Below is a selection of media coverage regarding our growth in the ever expanding UK fishing holiday industry.
AA Awards 2019
A haven for lovers of coarse fishing and walking, this long-established leisure destination, located in the hamlet of Eye Kettleby, provides very high standards. The outdoor areas are exceptional; guests can expect to find water features, nature areas, winding paths through beautiful designated walking areas, well-maintained roads and good clear signage throughout the park. The setting and landscaping of the nine fishing lakes is stunning and the considered and colourful planting really enhances the whole Eye Kettleby Lakes Holiday Park.
Accommodation is located in lodges, smart wooden pods in a glamping forest and well laid-out touring fields. Pitches are well-spaced, immaculately maintained and very private with mature hedging between them; the majority are fully serviced. All facilities, including toilets, showers, washrooms and waste disposal areas, are of a very high standard and kept spotlessly clean.
A fine Scandinavian log building houses the stylish reception area, a well-stocked shop, a café with an inviting alfresco seating area, and a refurbished clubhouse where regular entertainment is provided. Impressive ongoing investment and refurbishment since the park joined the AA Pennant Scheme in 2018 has seen the well-deserved achievement of coveted Platinum status for 2020 and the AA Campsite of the Year award for England.
Practical Motorhome Awards 2019
Last year’s Heart of England Regional Winner has this year taken the main prize, with a huge number of you voting for this pristine adults-only touring park.
The touring park was developed in 2012, but the fisheries side, comprising 10 fishable lakes, has been running since the early 1990s.
Since our visit last year, a new touring area, Southern Meadows, has opened. All 69 of its hardstanding pitches are fully serviced, have wonderful views and sit adjacent to the 4.5-acre carp lake. This area has a pond at its centre and is served by two state-of-the-art washblocks, each with an accessible wet room and individual bathrooms.
The Northern Acre touring area has 61 pitches, 47 of which are fully serviced, served by four five-star amenities blocks, one with dedicated disabled facilities.
The site’s popular bar/tearoom now has clubhouse facilities, with free Wi-Fi and a pet-friendly area. The tearoom opens daily for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, while the bar opens on a seasonal basis. There’s a programme of events throughout the year.
Touring isn’t the only option here, with 12 lodges and several glamping superpods available for hire.
Dog-owners are the site’s biggest clients, says manager Craig Oldham – they come for the fantastic dog-walks around the lakes and in the surrounding countryside – and Craig reckons around half the guests visit because of the fishing. But there are also some very pretty villages nearby. Rutland Water is just a half-hour drive, with Stamford and Burghley House only 40 minutes away. Practical Motorhome Top100 Sites Winners.
